Sept. 2012 Wellesley, MA – Stray Pets In Need of Mass. Inc. (S.P.I.N.) is pleased to announce that it received a $ 4,000.00 grant from the Massachusetts Animal Coalition through the “I am Animal Friendly” license plate program. . The grant is to be used towards S.P.I.N. spay and neuter services.

Sue Webb, executive director of S.P.I.N. said: “We saw a need to help local low income families in and around Wellesley to have their dogs, cats and rabbits spayed/neutered and vaccinated for rabies. Working with surrounding town animal control officers we now can identify those pet families and help to have their pets fixed. Since some families have no transportation our volunteers help with transporting the pets to and from the veterinary clinics. This benefits the entire community by reducing the number of unwanted pets being born and left to roam the neighborhoods and ensures the pets are also vaccinated for rabies..“

About the Massachusetts Animal Coalition and the “I’m Animal Friendly” License Plate Program:

Massachusetts Animal Coalition (MAC) is a statewide, non-profit organization comprised of animal professionals and individual volunteers dedicated to working together to decrease the number of homeless, neglected, displaced and abused animals in Massachusetts. MAC’s “I’m Animal Friendly” License Plate program helps fund spay and neuter programs across the state. These charitable plates are available through Massachusetts RMV and are tax deductible.

SPIN was formed to assist local Animal Control Officers by providing extra veterinary care, expanding adoptions and humane educational materials above those provided by limited town budgets.
